The awesome people over at World Nomads were kind enough to sponsor us with free travel insurance for six months. It's something you need anyway, so why not check them out and help us out at the same time?

Early Observations

Posted January 27th, 2007 by Kevin Allgood

We’ve only been in India a few days but we’ve already seen a lot. In many ways it’s similar to Nepal, so that was probably a good prep for travel in India. There are, however, some differences that we’ve already noticed. more»

I.N.D.I.A? We’ll See.

Posted January 26th, 2007 by Kevin Allgood

We finally left Nepal after using the entire two months of our visas. There was a chance that we would have to overstay because of a nation-wide transportation strike, but fortunately it ended the day we had planned to leave and we crossed the India-Nepal border the day our visas expired. more»

Royal Chitwan National Park

Posted January 24th, 2007 by Valerie Marshall

Royal Chitwan National Park is a must see and do on anyone’s Nepal itinerary. Before the Maoist rebellion, 92% of tourists came to the park, but numbers have been greatly reduced since 2001. It’s really unfortunate because the park is incredible. more»

BTB Mac Dashboard Widget!

Posted January 18th, 2007 by Kevin Allgood

If you don’t know what that is, it’s OK. A friend/BTB reader/proud Mac owner of ours took it upon himself to make a Dashboard Widget that will help you follow along with Bigtripblog.com! Pretty cool, huh? If you want to download it, you can download a zip file here.

A big thanks to Pat for coming up with that for us. I’ll also add a link to the Widget underneath the RSS links.

BTBtv Episode #9: The Kathmandu Valley

Posted January 16th, 2007 by Kevin Allgood

In our latest episode of BTBtv, we check out many of the sights around the Kathmandu Valley. We’ve got a charmless snake charmer, old temples, cremation ghats, ancient cities, a huge stupa, and lots and lots of prayer flags. Oh yeah, and a few monkeys too. In case you’re taking notes, we visit Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, Patan, Bhaktapur, Boudnath, the Monkey Temple, and Pashupatinath. Enjoy!

Our Guide to Flashpacking

Posted January 15th, 2007 by Kevin Allgood

We made this video to appear on Travelistic’s weekly show, “The Map.” It’s their featured video today, so we’re pumped! It might be cooler if you visited their homepage to see it all featured and stuff, but the choice is yours. BTBtv episode 9 will be up tomorrow too, so it’s shaping up to be an awesome week already.
