BTBtv Episode #3: “Eastern Turkey (Part One)”
Posted October 16th, 2006 by Kevin AllgoodIn this episode: Cappadocia in all its glory; tasty treats; the remote and breathtaking Mt. Nemrut; the interesting beehive houses of Biblical Harran; and the never-dull Sanliurfa.

great episode- looks incredible and amazing.
i LOVE baklava so much… and my mouth was literally watering watching you guys eat it. oh man. so jealous. have one (or four) for me!
and kev, i was thinking about the music… (you had mentioned before wondering where to get music to use for btbtv)… have you thought about contacting some bands (via myspace or friends of friends) to see about getting permission to use their music? maybe up-and-coming bands would give permission. my best friend’s boyfriend has an amazing band in DC- these united states (you can check them and a few songs out on myspace)- if you want i can make that contact for you and find out.

Thanks Tomo! We aren’t eating too much baklava these days as it’s hard to find much to eat around here except for kebabs and bread. Not the healthiest diet ever so the desserts are sacrificed. And with Ramadan out here in the East they always give us all this food whether we order it or not. Crazy!
As for the music that sounds like an excellent idea. I’ve sent a few emails to people I know but hadn’t thought about myspace. If you could ask your best friend’s boyfriend that would awesome. You rock!

Awesome. Guest TJ was fun (if not outright sexy). Food part was great. How do you find out so much info about everything? The tried and tested gaijin “point and look puzzled” approach? Nice to hear you haven’t lost your Japlish accents. “There are many foods in Turkey.” I’m surprised! I bet Bobby McFerrin is so old that he’s in the public domain.

I have been swimming in overflowing fountains of alcohol lately. It made me think of you two. Eid’s in two days. You can make it.

Why do you cut Turking ice cream with a knife?

cweagel - thanks for the comment, I appreciate the feedback! And I enjoy HD as well, always see it on vidblogs.com.
Chocobuns - Ramadan is over! We were in Istanbul to celebrate with all day happy hour. And you cut Turkish ice cream with a knife because it’s so thick. They don’t even give you a spoon they serve it to you.

Hey guys! Everything looks fantastic, I am super impressed! Kevin, what are you shooting on? Editing on?
I am so glad to see that you are safe and having these adventures. And it’s so nice that we get to experience them with you.
Miss you! Be safe.

Thanks michellede! Shooting with a Sony HDR-HC1, editing in FCP on my powerbook G4. Though the camera can shoot in HD, it takes too long to edit the big files so I just shoot everything in miniDV now.
